Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound provides a scenic portrait of a train journey across the Great Plains. It is Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. The view from the windows offer a stunning panorama of ranches, farm fields, short grass prairie, forgotten towns and big sky country. Sunset casts the flat, open landscape with  golden light, while the beginning purple twilight casts moonlight across the prairie potholes.  From the hardscrabble, dusty town of Cutbank, Montana through the Badlands of North Dakota to the fertile farmland of Minnesota, the train cuts through the night with the constant serenade of its mournful whistle. Gaining speed in the depth of night, the rails sing.
